Nourishing snacks can be simple, satisfying, and deeply restorative. Here are two favorites - one sweet, one savory - that bring together nutrient-dense ingredients with warming, postpartum-friendly flavors.

Mother’s Snack Duo
Sweet Date Delight
Ingredients
2–3 Medjool dates, pitted
½ tbsp nut butter (almond is a favorite)
Drizzle of maple syrup or honey
Light dusting of cacao powder
Pinch of hemp seeds
(Optional) Coconut flakes
Method
Remove the pits from the dates.
Fill each date with nut butter.
Sprinkle with cacao and hemp seeds.
Drizzle lightly with maple syrup or honey.
Top with coconut flakes if desired.
A quick, balanced treat - pairing natural sugars, healthy fats, and minerals to support steady energy. Rivals a candy bar any day.

Savory Avocado Bowl (Version 1)
Avocado is a true nutrient powerhouse, rich in healthy fats, fiber, and minerals. This version layers in Ayurvedic-inspired spices that bring warmth and digestive support - perfect for postpartum recovery. One of the star ingredients is pippali (long pepper), a pungent warming spice traditionally combined with ginger and black pepper to form trikatu, a restorative digestive remedy.
Ingredients
1 avocado, mashed
Juice and zest of 1 lime
1 clove garlic, minced (rest for 10 minutes after crushing to activate allicin)
1 tsp ghee
Pinch of pippali (or substitute with white pepper)
Pinch of yellow mustard seeds
Pink salt, to taste
Method
Crush and mince garlic. Let sit for 10 minutes to activate allicin.
In a small cast iron or stainless pan, melt ghee over low-medium heat.
Add garlic, mustard seeds, and pippali. Cook gently until fragrant.
Mash avocado in a bowl, then fold in the lime juice, zest, and spiced ghee mixture.
Season with pink salt and top with fresh herbs or seeds if desired.
Warming, grounding, and deeply nourishing - this snack is as functional as it is flavorful.
