A Certified Holistic Nutritionist (CHN) is a professional educated to guide individuals toward optimal health by integrating evidence-based nutrition principles with a holistic approach that considers the whole person -body, mind, and lifestyle. While the specific scope of practice can vary based on certification and state regulations, the general role encompasses:

Curriculum fully meet the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP) board educational requirements, making any AFPA nutrition graduate eligible to become a Board Certified Nutrition Professional

Curriculums also fully meet the American Naturopathic Medical Accreditation Board (ANMAB) accreditation board educational requirements. Graduates are eligible to apply to become a Board Certified Holistic Health Care Practitioner through ANMAB.

The Holistic Nutritionist Certification program is internationally accredited by the Federation for Holistic Therapists (FHT).

It is important to understand that the term “nutritionist” is not a regulated title -similar to terms such as “herbalist” or “doula.” Individuals who use this title may hold widely varying educational backgrounds, ranging from advanced degrees to short introductory trainings.
